Washington DC

I made it down here in one piece, yay, and rolled my suitcases for many blocks in the rain before I found my hostel, or Loftstel. It's beautiful! Apparently it was just constructed right after Christmas and we're like the first group of hostelers to use it.

Good things:

1. They make you take off your shoes when you come in. This sounds like a bad thing, but it enables them to have nice shiny hardwood floors AND beige soft carpeting in the bedrooms. Excellent. Much better than that nasty flat stained carpeting that most hostels have.
2. Free use of refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, stove, cookware, dishes, paper towels, cabinets, etc. Except you can't hog up the fridge with beverages because then there would be a space issue.
3. Free washer and dryers with complimentary laundry detergent and dryer sheets.
4. Free eyemasks and earplugs (for the pesky roommate).
5. Free wifi.
6. Free use of large TV + Wii that I haven't actually seen yet.
7. Two bathrooms on every floor that are really nice and clean.
8. Closet space with hangers in the bedrooms.
9. Personal locker space in the bedrooms.
10. Free phone with free long-distance. (Woo! Who am I going to call? I'll call everyone!)
11. Towels and linen are provided. Not just any linens - IKEA LINENS! I own this exact same duvet cover. Home away from home!
12. It's really cheap compared to an apartment.

Bad things (or not-so-great things):

1. It's kind of far from the Metro. But not crazy far. Like a ten minute walk.
2. I have to room with five people tonight.
3. I can't store my beverages in the fridge. Boy howdy, I do like beverages.
4. I don't have a job, and I need to pay the billz.

But I have an interview tomorrow and if that doesn't go well, then I will keep searching. Going to bed now to be fresh as a daisy.

To all those who were curious about where I stayed: it rhymes with Schmampton Schwinn.

Call me when I get my local phone next weekend, duh! Oh yes, so I'm totally "borrowing" internet from a neighbor, hope they keep their wireless on and unlocked! I'm loving my new place :)
