Cat, Sky, Bookstore

The bookstore that was not MY bookstore (this one was up near 115th and Broadway, Morningside Books or something) was supposed to go out of business on Memorial Day but lo and behold, was still hopping around two weeks ago.

Their vaguely prophetic and threatening window graffiti says "today we are selling books... tomorrow we may not be". Best pick up those bargain bin calendars WHILE YOU CAN!

One stanza from the sadsack poem displayed underneath:

"Hedge funds, banks, insurance giants:
These are our governments main clients.
Aircraft, bases, CIA;
We must go and these must stay."

Kitty on the cabinets! He really does have an obsession with his litter.

And shares the ears of a fennic fox.

Hi!

The cat and Mark look totally blissed out.

Got your paw!

Levy also has a fascination with the kitchen sink and the contents, and enjoyed playing with a precariously-balanced knife the other day.

So... how about that storm last night! This was from Mark's roof (which luckily was open instead of the alarm doors being shut).

It looks like I photoshopped Pat into this picture.

The sky looks awful nice.

I bet you noticed the weird 1970s purple tint going on in the pictures... perhaps my camera is finally winding down. This thing is ancient in technology years (tech years to people years is about 50:1). I'll have to start looking into a new one soon, but I will wear this one into the ground first. Expect a purple-hued future.

Works, Indeed

This weekend we got Whatever Works at our theater and because the clientele is super old and Jewish, there was quite the turnout. Ughh, the little annoying things that people do just compounded over and over again. Some things I hate hate hate from customers:

1) Standing in a three-deep line for twenty minutes and then just when I ask them what they want, realizing that they haven't even looked at the menu yet. Commence slack-jawed gaping.
2) Beginning their order when I am still on the previous person.
3) Changing their order when I'm halfway through with filling it (especially egregious when they've already paid).
4) Asking for a handful of popcorn to ascertain that it's at the correct salty level.
5) Giving me a quarter in addition to bills when the total is $XX.75. What makes people do this? I now have to return their original quarter plus another, and it makes me pause for several seconds while I try to make sense of it.
6) When they order a billion items and use both arms to carry everything. Then, since their hands aren't free, they use their tongue to scoop up popcorn into their mouths. Yes, this happens all the time. Yes, it's disgusting.
7) Leaving me a huge mess on the counter top.

All of these things happened today, of course.

But now I just need to get OVER IT because I don't have to work until Wednesday. Well, movie work. Various tasks need to be completed every darn day.

Congratulations to Daniel, who is now finishing up his last week of the year without having killed a single child. Yaaaay! Don't even think about going back!

Fetchy Cat

Perhaps there will come a time where I don't obsess over the cat, but it won't be today. He's just so darn cute! Aaaaaaaaand... he can fetch. I promise! He will bring his mousie (a little stuffed animal head that used to be a magnet on the fridge) and drop it right on my arm, and then bound off of the couch like a maniac to go play with it for a minute or so before bringing it right back again.

Long video of fetching.

Semi-long video of fetching.

Dark, semi-long video of fetching with video game background noise.

He's also a fiend for the laser pointer, but I don't have a video of that yet. It seems like such an unsatisfying toy.

So, as expected, the toilet thing is not really working. He would do his business when there was a clear plastic lining that held the litter, but after we got rid of that and just had the rings he had more fun pushing the litter into the water to hear the fizzy sound. Oh well. Back to the box, I suppose.

It is the crappiest, drippiest weather outside today and I feel stuffed up already so I am battening down the hatches and remaining put. We got two more disks of Deadwood from Netflix today so I know what my plans are for the next few days...

Yes, Yes, Cat.

If you watch one video today, this should be it. Cat. Fridge. Salsa. It's wonderful.

Being the strange kitty he is, Levy has taken to jumping inside of the refrigerator every time we open the door. At first it was all cuteness and sunshine but then it got irritating so we had to oh-so-lovingly spray him after he kept doing it. He doesn't do it anymore. Such is the power of the spray bottle.

Behold more of his destructive ways.

And I was wearing my cranky pants today, so every little thing exacerbated me. The weather was cloudy and cold. The library was too hot and stuffy. I was sneezy from the dust. I forgot my school folder at home. The subway was stinky. Finally I took reprieve by going to the 7-11 across the street from St. John's. This 7-11 was a wonderful oasis compared to the normal deli - it wasn't dingy and the food all looked appetizing. I got a Slurpee that was about a billion times larger than I needed and one of those jumbo hot dogs that just roll around in their own juices all day.

On top of the hot dog went mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut, and nacho cheese. Sooo much nacho cheese. It was delicious, and now I am too full to even think about concentrating on classwork. Thanks, 7-11!

Stanley Cup Won, Now What

Hello! Really, I have not much to say but I need to replace More Cat?!?! with something. So let's see what is up...

I saw both The Hangover and Moon yesterday during the sweet, sweet $6 Friday matinee price at the Lincoln Center AMC theater. Hangover was funny, and fueled my crush on Bradley Cooper, but Moon was extraordinary and anyone within theater distance should see it immediately. I'd only seen that there were good reviews without actually reading the reviews, so I thought it was about Kevin Spacey (heh, joke) on the moon for some business purpose in the future. Uh, incorrect. But I won't give anything away!

And, of course, the Stanley Cup was two tons of fun, except for the fact that we spent most of the second period waiting in line to get into this Penguin-dominated bar on 33rd. Eventually we gave up and went down the street to Fat Annie's where I had delicious nachos.

This is about the point where I give up any sense of propriety and just go KITTY PICS OMG CUTE LOOOKEEEE! but alas, the video that I desperately want to share is on my home laptop. So you guys will just have to suffer through another day. Good luck. Wish my patrons away!

More Cat?!?!

My schedule has become very predictable and boring lately, which has an upside. At least I can plan things in advance instead of being like, "well, I'll try to make it, I want to go, but... you know."

I just got a call from my research place and they want me to document all of my social interactions for sixteen days. Every time I finish socially interacting, I have to fill out a form and mail it back to them. Oh lord, I am excited to imagine what I'm going to have to write, but as a reasonably social person I hope it doesn't consume hours of my life. I would love to put down something like "10:55 PM - Daniel begged me once more to be his wife. Resisted at first, but could not help but acquiesce to his ardor. We plan to marry at once". Instead, it will be "8:42 PM - I came home right when Daniel was going to bed. I pleaded with him to watch Man vs. Wild but he went on and on about the trials of his job. Gave up."

You didn't think I could post without mentioning the cat, did you? Of course not.

Notice how all of the pictures of Levy involve the Target nubby couch. Sleeping position #1.

Heh, sleeping position #2. He cracks me up. It looks like he's trying to sit like a Real Person.

Then he just gives up and slides down to the cushion. Sleeping position #3. This one is my favorite because he's showing off his fang like Elvis.

Obviously this cat lives in constant fear and stress. Note the presence of both fangs. We have a Dracula wannabe kitty.

Adorable video of cat living in fear and stress. I have to remember to get one when he's all crazy-like and chasing his own tail. Today he had a great deal of fun with a large Duane Reade bag.

All right, enough cat!

Meat! This is from the extensive meat supply in the cold room at Fairway. I want a picture of me wearing one of those silly parkas that they offer to customers.

Heh, "wash me"s are always funny. This one says "wash me, I'm so dirty!" and "yes I can!".

Despite it not really raining, there was a rainbow when I left my cataloging class tonight.

And now I've stayed up far too late. I have an action-packed day lined up for tomorrow. Off to bed!
