Yanks

I didn't have anything to do until 3:00 today so Erin came by after her chiropractic appointment and we had a whirlwind of retail excitement at Wal-Mart, the Dollar Tree, and Target. I needed deodorant badly since the one I have melted after the huge heat wave last week, and I was also running a bit low on conditioner. While I was there, I picked up Kleenex, an iPod cover (blue!), and more black ink pens. Oh, and underwear from Target.

This was near the Summer Fun Toys at the Dollar Tree. It looks like poo in a tin pan. I think it was one of those crazy toys that grow to a thousand times their original size in water.

Not that anyone wants a close-up, but here you go.

They finally added a freezer section in the back, which was mainly incredible since they had some great deals for a dollar. This, however, didn't seem so great. At first, I just thought it was funny because "unreal!!!" isn't what first comes to mind when I think of sour cream. Then I realized that it was Sourcreme. Then I checked the ingredients. Note that locust bean gum is on there. Nonfat dry milk is somewhere around fourth or fifth down. Unreal!

I would like to introduce the newest member to 106 Cooper Hall, Yanks the Fish. Hello! He's a skittish one, no doubt about that. But it's been three and a half hours and he's still alive, so I'm optimistic.

Why do I have a fish, right? Well, I was walking home from shopping trying to balance my heavy bags, when I heard several students talking and a wisp of "giving them away free in the commons" caught my ear. Of course, I had to check it out. There was a big line outside of the game room and a sign said "Free Fish to all First-Year Students". I didn't let the 'first-year' thing slow me down, and sure enough no one cared. We were able to pick our choice of tank (blue for me), gravel (We Are! Penn State!), tank statue, and finally the fish itself.

It was rather difficult to transport everything from the Commons to my dorm room, but eventually I made it and Yanks seems to be settling in well. We'll see how long he lasts.

What did I have at 3:00? A Personality Impression study, that's what! I had to sit and answer a hundred and twenty question on how I behave in my everyday life, and for my reward I got a copy of the results emailed to me. Interested in how I did? Warning: I am less than sympathetic.

Thanks to Tal, Bathtime in Clerkenweld has been playing in my head nonstop for three days. I can't stop watching!
