Schedule

I've had so much going on lately that I had to dig through my stuff to find a datebook in which to track my numerous appointments. Yesterday's page was completely empty, which was sad, but today's got so filled that I had to scrunch up my writing near the bottom to fill it all in. What's all happening? Well...

1. CAS 100A with Dr. Michels, #806374
This was first on the list. I had to call the Communications department to see why the classes with Dr. Michels in the fall were controlled. It turns out that they were reserved for students with actual social phobic disorders. And it turns out that she was just the director and wasn't teaching them, anyway. Cross that off the list.

2. Inquire about library application
I talked to a Human Resources lady who told me that they aren't responsible for hiring and that I should instead check the status of the application online. I did so, and found that they have applications from back in January still 'under review'. Um, okay. Never mind.

3. 117 Computer Building
This was to pick up an application to be a Lab Services Assistant. Because I need money. I don't think I could possibly be the best candidate for the job. I'm not optimistic.

4. CSP check-in, 11:00, Atherton
Basic CA function of sitting around at a desk inside while reading and texting. Two hours of this. I finished a good chunk of Atlas Shrugged and the latest BUST magazine. And made plans to go see Smokin' Aces on Friday night. I get paid for this? (not much)

5. Meeting with mentor, 1:30, 13 Sparks
This went very well. He's going to try and set me up (ooh) with an alumnus in the law or library field before July. He mentioned how his sister works in a library in Reading, to which I made a bad pun, and he actually rolled his eyes at me. Hee. He also said that he'd use his contact in the English department to, ahem, encourage the library to look more closely at my application. I felt really shady. It was awesome.

6. Meeting with transfer advisor, 3:15, 217 Burrowes
I haven't gone to this yet, being that it's only 2:10. However, it's right across the way and this computer lab is nice and air conditioned, so I figure I'll stay here for the next hour or so and do random nothings, like write this post. My advisor is an old professor of mine that I had for French Film back in Spring 2006 and who I believe really appreciated my presence in class. I'm looking forward to this appointment.

7. Vision test, 4:15
I saw a call for volunteers for this vision screening test and on a whim I emailed the coordinator, who said that she'd give me six bucks to measure lines on a screen for a half hour. Score.

In relation to that, I also emailed some researcher this morning looking for volunteers in a 'tilt study', where they measure the blood flow from your legs to your stomach when they tilt your body various ways. They pay $125 for a few hours, so that seems like a fun time as well.

So that's what's been going on so far in my day. I stopped by the movies last night to see Shrek the Third which I really, really enjoyed. I was laughing out loud along with a crowd of about ten. I was originally planning to see Pirates but didn't want to wait an hour. All three of the movies at our theater (Pirates, Shrek, Spiderman) are third installments in a series. Weird!

I was very lucky in my room placement since my window faces almost due east and it's full sunlight by about 7:00, which makes it pretty hard to sleep in. I'm always paranoid about sleeping through my alarm (or not setting it at all) so it's a relief on my mind.

Ooh, two of my requested books are available at the library. Ta.
